The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 gets outstanding reviews from the automotive media. Motor Trend writes: “[The] GMC Sierra 1500 is a solid competitor in the full-size truck category. As an upmarket version of the Chevrolet Silverado, the GMC gets exclusive feature content and a high-end Denali trim. For the 2022 model year, the truck receives a refreshed exterior and interior, as well as new trim levels, including an even more luxe Denali Ultimate variant. GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway driving system is also now available. ... The GMC Sierra 1500 drives well and works hard.”

Buyers can get the 2022 GMC Denali in one of eight trim levels: Sierra Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate. Rear-wheel drive is standard on most trims, while the AT4, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate get all-wheel drive standard. The other trims get available all-wheel drive.

Four engines are on offer:

• 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine producing 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission
• 5.8-liter V8 generating 355 hp and 420 lb-ft, linked to a 10-speed automatic transmission
• 6.2-liter V8 producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, coupled to the 10-speed automatic
• 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 good for 266 hp and 460 lb-ft, teamed to the 10-speed automatic

The 2022 GMC Sierra’s cabin is designed with ergonomics in mind. The controls are user-friendly. A 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is standard in the SLE and higher trims. The upper trims come with a head-up display and a power-adjustable steering column. The Denali Ultimate trim gets 16-way power-adjustable front seats with a massage function.
 
Most Sierra 1500 models feature a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and maps and a voice assistant powered by Google. A 12-speaker Bose audio system and wireless charging are available.

Standard safety features include lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automated emergency braking, and lane departure warning.
